KB Alloys Formulates Unique Magnesium Based Master Alloy for Nonferrous Metalcasters

Released on Monday, March 12, 2007

KB Alloys Inc., Robesonia, Pa., has developed a unique 68% magnesium (balance aluminum) master alloy for metalcasters.

"With a melting point in excess of 3800F below that of pure magnesium, our 68% Mg alloy offers a clean and rapid method for picking up magnesium units with remarkable recoveries approaching 100%," says Tim Donnelly, director of sales and marketing. "Our patented process and composition uniquely positions this product as a very repeatable and economically attractive method for magnesium additions in aluminum metalcasting facilities."

The product is sold in small 3.5 ounce buttons packed in 350 pound fiber drums or a larger 30 pound slab product packed on 2,000 pound pallets.

KB Alloys is global leader in aluminum master alloys with production facilities in Henderson KY, Wenatchee WA, and Widnes, UK.
