KB Alloys Completes New Expansion at Kentucky Facility
Reading, Pa – KB Alloys, LLC has completed the 2008 expansion plans at its Henderson, Kentucky facility. The $2 million expansion and equipment installations were primarily focused on an upgraded strontium metal production plant, bar casting centers and conforming equipment used to produce ingot, bar, rod and coiled rod products for the aluminum industry.
“With the on-site production of strontium metal, this new facility and equipment installation differentiates KB Alloys as a fully integrated producer of many strontium bearing alloys used in the aluminum casting industry. We have all experienced the headaches involved with foreign sourcing and KB Alloys is proud to say we are no longer at the mercy of foreign sourcing for our strontium aluminum products. We are extremely proud of our Made in America product offering,” says Ron Duckworth, Vice President of Manufacturing.
The new facility will primarily produce a wide range of strontium-aluminum alloys such as 5Sr, 10Sr and 15Sr in 3/8” diameter cut rod, coiled rod and 7/8” diameter Korrect Bar™ forms. Additionally, the new equipment offers the capability for other unique alloy development and commercialization.
For over 50 years, KB Alloys, LLC is a global leader in the production of aluminum grain refiners, hardeners, master alloys and custom engineered materials with facilities in Henderson KY and Wenatchee WA and Reading PA.
