10% Boral® Waffle Ingot

Product Development

Aluminum is the most widely used material for electrical conductors because it offers excellent conductivity, good  mechanical properties and favorable cost. However, trace amounts of soluble transitional elements in aluminum are additive and can dramatically decrease electrical conductivity. Active boron in the form AlB12 mitigates the effect of these soluble transitional elements by precipitating them into borides. Aluminum boron master alloys offer the most efficient means of adding boron to aluminum.

KB Alloys, LLC. has long been the industry leader in developing both AlB2 and AlB12 master alloys.  In keeping with that tradition, KBAlloys,Inc. announces a new higher concentration for its Boral® series of Aluminum-Boron master alloys. The new alloy contains 10% boron as AlB12 intermetallics.

The new higher concentration comes in the traditional waffle ingot form, making an easy transition from the current standard products to the new alloy.

The new product has similar performance characteristics to our standard alloys in regards to conductivity improvement, solubility, reaction and settling times.
